Wow, it’s been a while.  But after a longer than expected hiatus we have returned!

I truly did grow a protest beard and everyone at work got a big kick out of it.  It was pretty rockin’ too, though damn if beards aren’t super itchy.  I felt pretty cool, in an Aragorn kind of way, and I got a pretty good reaction out of it; but in the end your face is a Brillo pad that maims anything it touches and my beard in particular grows out to be Hedgehog spikes.

We had been working 12 hour shifts for so long that I had fallen into a dazed routine of wake-bathe-drive-work-drive-dine-sleep-repeat.  This can go on for only so long before your brain turns to mush and by the time the “crunch period” was ending it looked as if we were working in a zombie warehouse.  The straw that broke my back was a 20 day stint straight of 12 hour shifts with no days off.

I’m not sure about everyone else, but artists also need their moments of personal creation.  Worse than having no life, not seeing family, playing games or any of that jazz was that we were shut down creatively.  Not only did I not have time to create but my willpower was drained.  That crushing desire to make art and tell stories doesn’t get quelled though, and you kind of implode in your own gravity well of creative desperation.

All that’s done now and I’m back to my clean-ish shaven faced self.  I’ll be back to making comics on a weekly basis and will be pushing myself in other directions as well.  When those projects are ready to show I’ll post them up.

It’s good to be back
